PDP Confirms Adamu Mu’azu As Chairman
The National Executive Committee, NEC, of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has approved the election of a former governor of Bauchi State, Adamu Mu’azu, as the new chairman of the party pending the election of a new chairman.
The Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, who presided over the election of Mr. Mu’azu, quoted section 47 (6) of the party’s constitution which empowers the NEC to elect a new official to fill vacancy created by the resignation of an elected official.
The motion for the nomination of Mr. Mu’azu was moved by the Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, and was seconded by Senate Leader, Ndoma Egba. The new chairman was

The Federal Government has paid N361 billion entitlements to 43,375 verified and validated bonafide staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, as both gratuity and pension component remitted to their Retirement Savings Accounts, RSA.
The Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, in a statement issued yesterday by the Head, Public Communications, Mr. Chigbo Anichebe, said it remitted the said amount to the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation for onward payment to the PHCN staff.
He added that the committee chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Power, was still working tirelessly to validate the remaining 4.5 per cent of the work force.

Two Students Seriously Injured As University Of Abuja Girls Hostel Got Burnt Yesterday
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the fire was caused by a gas cooker which exploded.
A security officer, Mrs Fatima Salawo, who said that she was the supervisor on duty, told NAN that the incident took place around 8.25 a.m.
She said that the fire broke out as a result of a leaking gas cylinder, belonging to a 100-level student in the Department of Micro Biology, simply identified as Lilla. Salawo said that one 100-level student and another 400-level student were injured in the ensuing fire.
