Sony in deal with Microsoft to produce Windows Phone

After many rumors and speculations Sony Ericsson has now confirmed that it is dealing with Microsoft to produce Windows Phone devices.

Pierre Perron, the head of Sony Mobile for Europe, said they are in talk with Microsoft to deliver Windows Phones. The deal with another partner, he refers, to generate a variety in its devices.

He said, “We don’t want to be a single OS manufacturer,” and it is exactly because Sony is only manufacturing the Android smartphones.

Recently there was some news that Sony is pondering WP devices until mid of 2014. Now it has been confirmed from the
executive of Sony, so the news is now more trustworthy.

Sony has from many years cooperating with Microsoft in its VAIO brand of Windows computers which is a well-established brand.

In 2011 Sony made a prototype running a test version of Windows Phone 7, but after some time CEO of Sony Kunimasa Suzuki denied the rumors and said they would not release Windows Phone.

Perron believes that producing only one operating system smartphone is not favorable for long term. Sony enjoys its deal with good collaboration with Google, added Perron, but the search engine giant is in relation with Sonny’s competitor.

Although the deal of Sony Ericsson with Microsoft has confirmed yet it is not clear when Sony will release the Windows Phone.
